Professional Experience
Going to college in the Research Triangle Parkway gave me to opportunity to explore various
forms of professional development. Here are some of the experiences that I had during my college career that I feel helped me grow.
Engineers Without Borders
The NC State student chapter of Engineers Without Borders is where I got my first steps as an engineer. As a part of the local projects team of this organization, I got the chance to work on many volunteer and long term projects within the North Carolina state.
After working with the organization for 2 years, I ran for and won the position of Community Director, where I planned events to build the student chapter. Through this I was able to gain many connections and insights from members in the professional chapter.
Emergency Medical Technician Certification
As I was narrowing down what I wanted my career to look like, I decided to get my EMT certification to see if medical school was for me. Through the semester, I got the chance to meet so many new people and learn skills that I would not otherwise have.
Teleflex Internship
For 10 months, I completed a Research & Development internship at Teleflex. I worked with the Surgical department to complete testing on their devices to get them ready for manufacturing. I learned about general engineering practices, including how to properly document, and had the opportunity to work with many testing machines.
