Undergraduate Years

Academic Experience

Throughout university I had the pleasure of attending not 1 but 2 schools... at the same time! I was apart of the Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering, split between NC State University and UNC at Chapel Hill.

Freshman, Sophomore, and Junior Design

Throughout all four years, I participated in engineering design classes and competitions. They gave me the opportunity to apply engineering knowledge and critical thinking skills while problem solving and collaborating with a team.

Freshman Year - Wolf Water Fountain

Sophomore Year - Cervical Dystonia Pump

Junior Year - Cerclage Wire Passer

Senior Design

The biomedical engineering program at NC State allows students to stimulate the production of a medical device in industry. Through speaking with clinicians, our team found a need in the medical world. From those needs, we formulated a concept -- the Ark blood transfusion cooler. The device has 3 main functions, including a cooling section for storage, a heating section to prepare the blood for transfusion, and a pump to transfuse the blood into a patient.

Honors Seminar:
Music and Social Life

For an honors seminar class I took sophomore year of college, I wrote a paper about a Bollywood dance school in Charlotte and its effect on its students. Through interviews with students and the head teacher, I explored the sense of community that the school brings to first generation Americans.

Biomedical Ethics:
COVID on College Campus

As a part of an honors contract that I completed with my biomedical ethics class, created a video project to study the intersection of COVID and its effect on college students. The idea of the project was to sit out in a public place on campus and allow students to answer questions on a board using sticky notes.
